058: ARE YOU LOOKING TO SCORE? SHOOT FOR THE GOAL!

We’ve heard that life is like a “box of chocolates” but after watching kids play soccer tonight I think I might have to change it to marriage is like a soccer game.

Play

It’s interesting to see how much of what we learn and experience as children really does play out later in life.

Watching kids figure out how to play to their natural strengths and how to work together as a team reminds us all that these are necessary skills that we use every day in our marriages.

When we focus on the common goal and put our energies into achieving that we can work wonders in our marriages.

Are you playing on the same team?

  1. Tony and Alisa,

Great podcast this week. I am so glad you took the plunge and let Alex play soccer. Sports and especially team sports have been such a part of my life and my children’s lives that it is hard to separate the sports from the rest. Making the effort to support their athletic desires has put some strain on our marriage, but we have overcome and gotten stonger for it. On top of that, we now have three wonderful, hard working and well-adjusted children. They are polite, considerate and respectful. They do well in school, have great friends and don’t drink or do drugs. I can’t give soccer, hockey, baseball, softball, football and swimming all of the credit, but Jen and I didn’t do it all. I could go on forever. Can’t wait to see Alex in the 2024 World Cup.

    • Thanks Kent. It is great to hear how much of an impact sports has played in your kids lives and who they are today. We are excited to see him grow over these next 8 weeks and what he decides to do after is up to him.
