“Tomorrow is the first blank page of 365 page book. Write a good one.” —Brad Paisley

We are all at the start of a brand new year.  It’s a blank slate. An empty book ready to be written.

You may be thinking about what you want your year to look like. Maybe you are focused on the changes you want to see in your life. Maybe you are thinking about who you want to be in 2020.

Over the years, making a resolution has become a little cliche. They are made and then for many very quickly abandoned. Let’s be clear that a resolution is not a wishy washy or sorta kinda things. They are firm “taking action” moments in your life.

Did you know that depending on the study that you look at between 40-60% of people make a resolution but less than 10% keep them. That’s not so great when it comes to following through for real change.

So now it’s time for you to think about what you’ve got on your list. Go ahead and list it all!

Don’t get overwhelmed at the enormity of your list. Or get spun up at the “how am I going to do all of this” feeling. Take a look at your list and look for the 1 or 2 things that really get you fired up. Focus on what you need to work on, not what everyone else is working on.

Success begins with small steps. When you have many things to chase, you don’t know which way to go.

Where do you need to start? Get specific.

If you are still stuck, think about what it would mean to you/to your marriage when you have success in that area.

Then give yourself permission to envision the success.

We have been conditioned to think in terms of failure. “What if it doesn’t work? Or “What if I don’t do this or that?”

However it’s a focus on the positives that pulls us into action. When it becomes positive we are much more likely to engage. So dare to dream. Focus on the positive and then…..

Take the first step toward the life and marriage you want to create.
