A comfort zone is a behavioral space where your activities and behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimizes your stress and risk. It’s something that provides you a state of mental security. 

As much as your comfort zone gives you a sense of security, your comfort zone can also bring boredom, complacency, and a sense of being stagnant. In a nutshell, it’s something that can limit you. 

As an extraordinary couple, you can find ways to get out of your comfort zone. This allows you to learn and grow, both as individuals and as a couple. But doing this involves being open to having conversations that are based on providing feedback.

You’ll need to ask yourself and your spouse for feedback and be open to a feedback loop. 

Because it’s always easier to look outward, it’s important to be aware of your words and actively participate in the conversation. Having some ground rules may help you both focus on the bigger picture. 

That bigger picture includes a goal of understanding what you can do better and understanding what your spouse needs from you.

This is also a chance for you to regularly clear the air with specific questions. This will help you share information before it becomes an exploding volcano in the middle of dinner (or whenever your arguments happen).

By creating a structure for talking about this and how it applies to the logistics of doing life together, you open the lines of communication. Plus you are constantly equipped with info on what your spouse needs from you.

Although it may feel uncomfortable at first, knowing where you need to make changes is very empowering. In doing so, you are creating the extraordinary marriage you desire.
