673: SIZING UP THE PENIS

“Women don’t suffer from penis envy. Men do.Joseph Heller

It’s amazing what can happen when a couple gets intentional when talking about all areas of their marriage, including the topics that may seem difficult to talk about.

Like penis size.

According to several studies done somewhere between 45-68% of men are concerned with their size. This means that it’s on a lot of men’s minds and it’s something that could affect your sexual intimacy.

But what’s behind all the conversations around the penis, and why does it matter?

When you research the penis, you learn the it represents power, fertility, and sexuality.

It’s easy to see why we are conditioned to believe that the larger the penis, the more of that a man he might be, but what you really have to ask yourself is:

  • Is larger really better?
  • Does size matter?
  • What’s normal?

According to researchers, the average size of a flaccid penis is 9 cm or 3.5 inches and an erect penis is 13cm or 5.1 inches, most ranging from 4 to 6.3 inches. Soft circumference averages 9 cm or 3.5 inches and erect circumference averages 11 cm or 4.3 inches.

But what about those “large” penises? If this is average, then surely there are men who are above average, right?

First let’s talk about what affects size: health and level of arousal. The better his health, the more blood flow to the penis, the more blood flow, the bigger and stronger the erection. The same is true of the level of arousal. Meds and stress levels can affect both.

Let’s also talk about being a grower vs being a show-er (terms coined by Aaron Spitz M.D.). According to Dr. Spitz, growers are smaller at rest and larger at play and are more sensitive to cold.

However, when erect, they are the same size as showers. This difference, when flaccid, is because of differences in the levels of elastin and collagen in the penis.

So in the end, men, you can control your health…but you cannot control your genes.

Size comprises both. So do everything you can to keep yourself healthy, both physically and mentally.

Wives, love your man, be encouraging. Just like you may wonder if your breasts are too small or your butt is too big, know that insecurities can have a big impact on the two of you.

Build him up, encourage him, let him know how he makes you feel. You’ll both enjoy it.
