707: LET’S GO TO BED NAKED

“I always sleep better with your warm naked body next to me.—Anonymous

Have you ever gone to bed naked?

It might actually be something you’ve never even considered, now that you think about it.

You might even think, why would I EVER do that? Isn’t being naked something that you did while you’re having sex?

As you are considering this, some objections may cross your mind:

  • What if there was an emergency in the middle of the night?
  • What if something happened like a burglary?
  • What do I do if I get cold?
  • After kids, what if they came into our room or I had to get up and go to them?

When you think about it, all of those things can be easily managed and since there are documented benefits of sleeping naked, consider giving this a try.

Why? Well, from a health standpoint, if you aren’t all covered up, your metabolism gets a boost in helping you to maintain your body temp while you sleep when you go to bed naked.

Also, it allows you to air out your genitals, which can lead to reducing yeast or bacterial overgrowth, which can lead to discomfort and infection.

When your body temperature is lower, you have a tendency to sleep better and better sleep can lead to reduced stress levels. Plus, there is a tremendous benefit to going to bed naked.

If you love not being confined by clothes or tangled up in the sheets, being able to feel your spouse skin to skin and the enjoyment of the random touches throughout the night.

Now, back to those challenges. They seemed to fall into a few key categories and it’s up to the two of you to talk through these and come up with solutions. You also might have to try it more than once or even twice.

If you want to develop an affinity for something, you need to invest and try it multiple times. You may also need to try it during different times of the year (summer vs. winter).

Your comfort will need to be explored too. It might mean new sheets or sleeping “almost naked” if you are uncomfortable totally naked.

Don’t forget that expectations are important too and start a conversation about this topic. You may find sleeping naked to be an advantage because it was a way to connect without the expectation of always having sex.
