839 — REFLECTING ON THE YEAR GONE BY Post Image Updated

A win is a win, no matter how small. So before the year ends, can you find some time to think about the marriage moments from the year gone by you’re most proud of?

It’s not being prideful or boasting. The things you achieved in your marriage are worth celebrating!

Too often, couples pass mindlessly from year to year, forgetting the small moments that led to major breakthroughs. You might be surprised by how many wins you can think of when you take the time to reflect.

If you need inspiration to get the ideas rolling, here are some wins that couples in the ONE Family shared:

Stop for a moment and think about this in the context of your own marriage. What are you most proud of?

Maybe this was a year where you felt more like a team or were able to enjoy simple moments together. Maybe you invested in your marriage with conferences, small groups, or a marriage getaway.

On the other hand, it’s okay if this was a hard year. It’s still worthwhile to look for the wins. And in the areas that need improvement, there will be time to take action in the new year.

But don’t miss this opportunity to slow down, reflect on the year gone by, and share your thoughts with your spouse.

Do what it takes to find the time to have this conversation. Go for a walk together, grab coffee, or simply sit on the couch and talk.

If you don’t know where to start, think about The 6 Pillars of Intimacy®: emotional, physical, financial, spiritual, recreational, and sexual. Then ask: Where have we had success in the last 12 months?

Think about the challenges you faced this year and how you overcame them together. Ultimately, these moments of connection are powerful for building your emotional intimacy as a couple.
