854: Your Marriage Bucket List

Stop dreaming about your bucket list and start living it.” —Annette White

Why wait until the end to start having the adventures you really want?

So often, couples talk about all the things they plan to do—once they retire, once the kids get older, once life finally slows down.

But tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.

So what would it look like to actually live—even in the thick of work, parenting, and everyday busyness?

Sure, some bucket list dreams are tied to timing or finances. But most of the time, you don’t have to wait. You just have to start.

Within the ONE Family, so many of you share a deep desire to travel, explore, and create unforgettable memories with your spouse.

Your bucket list includes things like:

  • Go on a week-long vacation—just the two of us
  • Retire in a special town
  • Grow old together
  • Road trip across the USA and Mexico
  • Attend a marriage event
  • Travel to Europe
  • Get consistent with a hobby together

What’s on your bucket list?

This question touches several of your 6 Pillars of Intimacy®.

When you talk about your dreams and desires, you’re building emotional intimacy. When you plan (and budget!) for these activities, you’re engaging your financial intimacy. And when you experience them together, you’re strengthening your recreational intimacy, physical intimacy, and often enjoying some incredible sexual intimacy, too. (Many in the ONE Family say vacation sex is their favorite kind!)

So don’t just dream—do.

Start by thinking through what your marriage bucket list looks like:

  • What have you always wanted to try?
  • What places are calling your name?
  • Are there new skills you want to learn?
  • What memories do you want to create together in this season?

Then, share your list with your spouse. Listen with curiosity, not judgment. You might uncover shared desires—or delightful surprises you never expected.

And then comes the fun part: make it happen.

Pick a couple of items to start with. Maybe there’s one that’s small and doable, and another that stretches you. Mix it up! Book that dance class, plan the adventurous trip, or try that thing you’ve always talked about.

Don’t wait until retirement. The bills and laundry will still be there. But your spouse?

Life is unpredictable.

Make the memories now.
